There are 3 levels of JOINTS Canada membership:
Full Members
Full membership is limited to people holding an MD or a PhD. A Full Member’s responsibilities include,
but are not limited to:
- enrolling at least 1 patient within a two year period in a JOINTS Canada trial,

- paying annual dues,
- being committed to attending one meeting per year,
- conducting and/or collaborating with at least 1 trial a year,
- voting on all issues,
- serving in an administrative/governance capacity of the group.
An Active Full Member must sponsor a new Full Member for at least one year before being granted Full Membership status.

Associate Members
Associate membership is an open membership category to those people who assist in conducting trials, writing grant applications or carrying out research activities
(i.e. research assistants, coordinators, associates). An Associate Member’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- being active in at least one of the multicentre clinical trials being conducted by the group,
- paying dues at a different rate than Full Membership dues,
- voting on all non-surgical issues with the exception of the absence of a Full Member who has granted the Associate Member permission to vote in his/her absence,
- serving as an officer of the group.
A Full Member must sponsor all new Associate Members for at least one year before being granted Associate
Membership status.

Affiliate Members
Affiliate Membership is an open membership category to clinicians, statisticians, consultants, researchers and industry
representatives who contribute to a trial or to administration of the group. Affiliate Membership is granted through
application of the group. An Affiliate Member’s responsibilities are limited to:
- no dues
- membership is renewable annually
- no voting privileges
- attendance at meetings is not required
- supporting the group’s research activities through scientific contribution or funding.
